Nokia To Sell Phones With Skype Software

Skype and Nokia announced a partnership yesterday in Barcelona.

Some of Nokia’s higher end models, starting with their flagship, N97, will start shipping with an integrated Skype installation from the third quarter of this year.

Skype will be part of the address book on N97, displaying which contacts are online and providing instant-messaging with them.

MIT Students Develop Wearable Computer

Students of the MIT have invented something that we can surely take as a glimpse of the future of computing - a wearable computer that uses any nearby surface as an interactive display.

The device consists of a mobile phone, a webcam, a projector with an attached mirror and colored finger caps. All together, it costs less than $350.

Walmart Starts Selling iPhones, $99 Version Nowhere To Be Seen

On Sunday, Walmart started selling iPhone 3G’s at nearly 2,500 stores, but only the 8GB model at $197 and the 16GB model $297. There is not a hint of the much-rumoured $99 4GB model, or the iPhone nano.

Apple sells its handsets for $199 and $299 so you can save a “huge sum” of $2 when you buy an iPhone from Walmart instead.

Linux Starts “I’m Linux” Ad Campaign, Will Probably Fail

After the Gates/Seinfeld ads by microsoft, the quite successful “I’m a Mac” ads by Apple, Linux wants in. The Linux foundation is starting a video contest that will try and showcase “just what Linux means to those who use it, and hopefully inspires many to try it.”

All Linux users are welcome to submit their videos, and the best ones will be broadcasted as commercials. So if you’re bored have nothing to do, why not take on the multi-million dollar ad campaigns and trained, professional actors of Microsoft and Apple, and make your own commercial for your favorite operating system (No, not windows, oh and definitely not Mac, I’m talking about Linux.)?

First REAL iPhone 3G Unlock, To Be Released On New Year’s Eve!

We’ve been waiting ages for it. And finally, it has come. The first real unlock software for the iPhone 3G, humorously codenamed “yellowsn0w” will be released into the wild on New Year’s Eve 2008.

This unlock will work on any jailbroken 3G iPhone, on both Windows and Mac.

Dev-team, the creators of this hack, have filmed and uploaded the unlocking, so we know this one is for real.

shinkansenIn 1964, a very unusual rail service for the time started in Japan: the first Shinkansen. The builders of the line had no idea of the revolution that they had started, even less of the evolution that high-speed rail (HSR) would go through during the following decades.

Today’s Shinkansen trainsets take over 1,500 passengers (3x a jumbo jet) and travel at speeds up to 200 mph. What’s more, the technology has spread to the rest of Asia and much of Europe, particularly to France.
