Pigeon, Faster Than Broadband

A South-African IT company armed a pigeon with a 4GB memory stick and let it travel for 60 miles. Meanwhile they tried to transfer 4GB through the Telkom ADSL network. When the pigeon reached it’s destination the ADSL had only sent 4% of the data. BBC Pigeon ‘faster than broadband’

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the GSMA have teamed up to help people in developing countries to carry out mobile banking from their non-smartphones.
The foundation has already donated $12.5 million with a goal to supply 20 milli0n unbanked people with mobile financial services by 2012.
The danger of being unbanked is that your home could get robbed anytime and all your family’s life savings lost forever.

As you might already have noticed, Google has changed their favorites icon (favicon) again. Some people still haven’t got used to the previous one, created in June 2008. The new one is a white “g”, very similar to the previous one, but on a wavy red-green-yellow blue background.

After the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) revealed its new scheme for punishing suspected music sharers, several problems have surfaced about the plan.
The RIAA’s new scheme involves forcing ISP’s to cut off piracy suspects from the internet, instead of tracking them down using suspicious methods and then suing them.
The new plan circumvents the law, and puts the power directly into RIAA’s hands, which means that more innocent people than ever will get harassed by the RIAA.
