The Navy’s New Toy - X-47B UCAS

In December 16, 2008, Northrop Grumman introduced the new version of X47-X47B UCAS(Unmanned Combat Air System), which is part of DARPA’s JUCAS program, and is now part of the United States Navy’s UCAS-D program for building unmanned aircraft.


The new air vehicle, which will be launched in 2011,  is long ranged, survivable and capable for missions including Intelligence, Reconnaissance and Surveillance, also for demonstrating its technical features and flexible platform for carrier landings.

  • Combat Radius: 1,500+ nm ISR
  • Payload: 4,500 lb (2,045 kg) Internal
  • Ferry: 3,500+ nm
  • Speed: High Subsonic
  • Sensors: EO/IR/SAR/GMTI/ESM/IO
