Microsoft Trademarks “Kumo”

By stormy at 18 December, 2008, 10:23 pm

Microsoft has recently trademarked the name “kumo” for web search and a multitude of other services. Kumo is Japanese for “cloud” or “spider” but in reality it means nothing. Just like Google, for example…

Microsoft has a history of screwing up names by adding “Windows” and “Microsoft” to everything, so you get horrible looking names such as “Microsoft Windows Live Messenger” that people like to refer to as just the ever-so-comfortable MSN, but looks like Microsoft has finally got the point. Could they be replacing Windows Live Search with “Kumo”?

We just have to wait and see.
