Internet Explorer users are advised to switch to another browser until a major security flaw is fixed.

Discovered last week, this flaw lets criminals gather passwords and other sensitive data from the victims’ computers when they visit an infected website.

As many as 10,000 sites, mostly Chinese, have already been compromised.

Microsoft’s security update on Monday:

We are actively investigating the vulnerability that these attacks attempt to exploit. We will continue to monitor the threat and update this advisory if this situation changes.

We will keep you posted as soon as there are any developments of the matter.

UPDATE:

Microsoft has released a patch that should fix this issue: MS08-078. It is labeled as critical, and everyone is instructed to install it.
