Linux Starts “I’m Linux” Ad Campaign, Will Probably Fail

By stormy at 22 December, 2008, 10:14 pm

After the Gates/Seinfeld ads by microsoft, the quite successful “I’m a Mac” ads by Apple, Linux wants in. The Linux  foundation is starting a video contest that will try and showcase “just what Linux means to those who use it, and hopefully inspires many to try it.”

All Linux users are welcome to submit their videos, and the best ones will be broadcasted as commercials. So if you’re bored have nothing to do, why not take on the multi-million dollar ad campaigns and trained, professional actors of Microsoft and Apple, and make your own commercial for your favorite operating system (No, not windows, oh and definitely not Mac, I’m talking about Linux.)?

The video below was made in 2007 before the contest, but it’s definitely a good source for inspiation.

The lucky winners will receive a free trip to Tokyo to participate in the Linux Foundation Japan Linux Symposium in October 2009. The winning video will be screened at the Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit in San Francisco on April 8, 2009.

Good luck for all you Linux fans out there!
